چکیده
The evolution of inclusions with Ce addition and Ca treatment in Al-killed steel during RH refining process was investigated through experimental observations thermodynamic calculations. results indicated that the typical before are CaO–Al2O3 inclusions, which were a liquid state refining. After addition, transformed from calcium aluminate inclusion to (Ca–Ce–S–O)+(Ce–Al–Ca–O) complex inclusion. treatment, types morphologies did not change. Experimental observation calculations shown certain amount can’t affect formation Ce-containing inclusion, may indicate should be carried out for rare earth treated steel.

Removal of B from Si by Hf addition during Al–Si solvent refining process
A small amount of Hf was employed as a new additive to improve B removal in the electromagnetic solidification refinement of Si with an Al-Si melt, because Hf has a very strong affinity for B. The segregation ratio of Hf between the solid Si and Al-Si melt was estimated to range from 4.9 × 10-6 to 8.8 × 10-7 for Al concentrations of 0 to 64 at.%, respectively. The activity coefficient of Hf in ...
متن کاملImpacts of Modification of Alloying Method on Inclusion Evolution in RH Refining of Silicon Steel
This study explores the effect of introducing additional alloy elements not only in a different order but also at different stages of the Ruhrstahl-Heraeus (RH) process of low-carbon silicon steel production. A more economical method, described as "pre-alloying", has been introduced. The evolution of MnO-FeO inclusions produced by pre-alloying was investigated. Results show that spherical 3FeO·...
متن کاملInclusion Evolution during Modification of Alumina Inclusions by Calcium in Liquid Steel and Deformation during Hot Rolling Process
The production of clean steel involves the controlling, elimination, or modification of nonmetallic inclusions. In Al-killed steels, alumina is the main type of inclusion. Calcium treatment, by wire feeding, is commonly used to modify solid alumina inclusions to calcium aluminates, which exists in a fully or partially liquid phase. Liquid inclusions can improve steel castability, but make inclu...

F. Tehovnik, J. Burja, B. Arh, Institute of metals and technology, Ljubljana, Slovenia, M. Knap, University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering, Ljubljana, Slovenia Nozzle clogging is a common problem in the production of continuously cast Al-killed steels. Clogging occurs when there are solid inclusions in molten steel at casting temperatures. SENs (Submerged entry nozzle...
